The first project of Iwillbuildmychurch.com is the construction of a new multi purpose Church centre in Westward Ho!
Westward Ho! Baptist Church has been part of village life since 1887 when a meeting of local believers came under the oversight of Appledore Baptist Church. These believers first met in a house, later demolished following coastal erosion.
Our existing building, completed in 1895, has since been extended and developed. Most recently, in 1998, new seats were added and a baptistry built. Land for expansion was first purchased in the 1930s. The Church Hall was built on this land in Nelson Drive in the 1960s and was itself extended in 1990. It now forms well equipped and convenient accommodation for our midweek activity and other community use. A further plot of land, next to the hall, was bought in 1996.
Originally sharing a minister with Appledore Baptist Church, the church became fully independent in 1974. Our current minister, Steve Robinson, joined us in 2000 on completion of his studies at Spurgeon's College.
Today, the fellowship is an active, mixed and growing congregation of all ages, from varied backgrounds and with a variety of Christian experiences, drawn from the local area.
